My 2000 Chrysler Cirrus was running fine, and then tonight I noticed that the speedometer cable wasn't working. I then realized that it wouldn't accelerate correctly, and that the revolutions per minute went up like crazy when I tried to make it go. Then, it started smelling bad, followed by the 'check engine' light.
I immediately pulled over, but I have no idea what to think. Is the broken speedometer cable somehow causing my car to not change gears when it's supposed to? Or is this a bigger problem? It just seems like it would be too much of a coincidence if the speedometer broke AND something else went wrong at the same time.
Well, maybe it's not a speedometer cable that isn't working....I just know the speedometer isn't working, and now it won't shift into a higher gear.
