Predinsone is my friend, and I wish that I could stay on it forever, but we can't. I have been having bad coughing spells, and I mean very bad, the gagging can't breath hardly coughing spells. I have to use a Nebulizer, to open me up, from all that excess mucus, that has dripped down into my chest. This has been going on for years, and I am very tired now, and the only relief I seem to get is when I am on Prednisone, but when I am on Prednisone to long my blood pressure goes up, and stays up, not to mention raised sugar levels. I have just put myself back on Prednisone starting out with just 40 mg a day for 3 days and then the breakdown. I could have started out with 60 mg but I chose 40 mg. Lately I have been asking God why is this still going on, I am 55, will this go on for the rest of my life ? I had my second sinus operation June the 7th of this year, and this one turned out better than the first one, I still have my smell, very good smelling senses, where as before I could not smell anything unless I was on Prednisone, but this time I don't need Prednisone to smell. It is just this chronic PND, that is killing me, I have just started taking Omeprazole 80 mg a day, and I hope this works, I don't know how long it will be before I get results. I hope that it is a acid problem, because then I will know what it is that is causing this chronic PND. I know that I am going to have to come off the Prednisone, so it it is always a short lived thing with the Prednisone. If you are out there and you suffer like me, and you know what I am talking about, please give me some helping advice, because these bad coughing spells are hitting me where ever I go now, in my car or walking down the street, in church just about any place. I am scared that I am going to get an attack on stage playing drums with my band, and that will be a tragedy. I have to keep a inhaler with me to open me up when I am out in the street, because I can't carry a nebulizer with me. Who else out there is going through this, please respond. Oh and also, the Sodium Chloride, with the use of Pulmicort Respules mixed in has helped and does keep the polyps out of my sinuses. I am still using Ipratropium Bromide, spray and it is not stopping it like it use to. So once again will you guy's please respond, and tell me what is working for you, or what new treatment is on the horizon for PND, thanks in advance.

Im sorry you're feeling so badly.

I would suggest going to see an allergist and finding out what you are allergic to and if you could benefit from shots.

I also had two sinus operations and have had chronic sinus infections and developed asthma.

The only thing that has significantly helped me is allergy shots. I am about two years into them and I have only had one sinus infection and my quality of life has improved dramatically.

Good luck

Yes I have talked to my doctor at the VA about returning to the shots, I was getting them from a civilian medical center, the Philly VA does not do it, they have to contract outside to do it. I have a allergy to 17 things so said my last test in about 2004. And I was getting shots and I moved to Georgia and then back here to Philly and I never went back to the shots. But that is about to change. Thank you for making me think about this even more. Also when I was a child I was getting them. But the VA doctors has downplayed my need for them, but that will not happen again. And to Janewhite1 no I have never tried cromolyn sodium NasalCrom, but I am going to Google it now. Thanks
