Why were the Egyptians able to build a enduring, centralized society so early on, as opposed to the early Akkadian and Sumerian societies?

It's hard to say. One explanation is the Nile, as all of the people of the Nile Valley were served by the same river, where the Tigris-Euphrates valley was serviced by the many tributaries of those two great rivers.
