Wow, just found out this is now a musical in London.

It looks really good. Marc Warren, Leslie Sharp and Diana Vickers are in it so quite a good line-up. The movie was amazing with Jane Horrocks.

However, i wasn't sure where to put this as there isn't a music section ha.

:)

It always was a musical - the film was based on the stage play, which played in London's Aldwych theatre back in the late 90's.

Jane Horrocks was in the original stage version as well.

I totally love the movie, its one of my favs.

Jane Horrocks, Brenda Blythan and Michael Caine were all wonderful in it.

In fact Michael Caine's rendition of the Roy Orbison classic It's Over is one of the highlights of the movie, it is so funny!!!!

A gem!!

I flicked the channel over and started watching this five minutes in tonight and I thought it was a brilliant little film. I'd never even heard of it before but I thought all the actors suited the characters perfectly. Who knew Jane Horrocks was such a fantastic singer/impressionist?

it was my understanding Jim Cartright wrote the play in the first place for Jane Harrocks. i think he was knocking her off or something.
would love them to make a proper movie version of Cartright's other work - Road!

It's not really a musical as such, rather a play with music (ie characters don't suddenly burst into song for no apparent reason but rather Little Voice's "singing" is the main subject of the play). Haven't seen the latest West End version but did see the original stage production with Jane Horrocks. The older leaRAB in that were Alison Steadman and Pete Postlethwaite and I thought they were so much better than Michael Caine and Brenda Blethyn (just my opinion!).

The film was good but Brenda Blethyn was way over the top to the point of ridiculous and Ewan McGregor was his usual over-rated self. He is one of those actors where you can literally see him act.
