I know these movies aren't well liked. But i personally love them. Milla Jovovich is great as Alice.

Here is some full information about the movies.

Resident Evil:
Something rotten is brewing beneath the industrial mecca known as Raccoon City. Unknown to its millions of residents, a huge underground bioengineering facility known as The Hive has accidentally unleashed the deadly and mutating T-virus, killing all of its employees. To contain the leak, the governing supercomputer, Red Queen, has sealed all entrances and exits. Now a team of highly-trained super commandos including Rain, Alice and Matt must race to penetrate The Hive in order to isolate the T-virus before it overwhelms humanity. To do so, they must get past the Red Queen's deadly defenses, face the flesh-eating undead employees, fight killer mutant dogs and battle The Licker, a genetically mutated savage beast whose strength increases with each of its slain victims.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Alice awakens from a terrible sleep to find her worst fears realized--the bloodthirsty Undead, which she and the now-annihilated squad of elite military fought to destroy, have been unleashed on the city that surrounRAB the secret facility of the Umbrella Corporation. Discovering she was an Umbrella experiment, Alice has been bio-genetically enhanced with new strengths, senses and dexterity--and she will need them. In the heart of the ravaged Raccoon City, a small group of uninfected people, including Jill Valentine, a recently demoted member of Umbrella Corp's elite Special Tactics and Rescue Services team, and S.T.A.R.S team leader Carlos Oliveira, fight for their lives against swarms of Undead and the deadlier and faster Lickers. Running out of luck and resources, the group is rescued by Alice, and they begin to wage an exhilarating battle to survive and escape before the Umbrella Corporation erases its experiment from the face of the earth. Their only hope lies somewhere within Raccoon City--Dr Charles Ashford, one of the leading scientists for the Umbrella Corporation, will help Alice and the others escape the city safely--if they find his daughter. Angie Ashford became separated from her father and now hides in fear. Alice, Jill and Carlos will have to fight their way through an army of Undead to save her. All the while, a secret weapon code-named Nemesis has been experimentally altered with greater modifications than Alice and has been programmed to track and destroy them. They will need all their strengths and skills to fight the battle of their lives against the mindless evil that has infected the city and the powerful forces that unleashed it on mankind.

Resident Evil: Extinction
Years after the Raccoon City disaster, Alice is on her own; aware that she has become a liability and could endanger those around her, she is struggling to survive and bring down the Umbrella Corporation led by the sinister Albert Wesker and head researcher Dr. Isaacs. Meanwhile, traveling through the Nevada Desert and the ruins of Las Vegas, Carlos Olivera, L.J., and new survivors K-Mart, Claire Redfield, and Nurse Betty must fight to survive extinction against hordes of zombies, killer crows and the most terrifying creatures created as a result of the deadly T-Virus that has killed millions

And Resident Evil: Afterlife is set to follow in 2010.

I enjoyed the first one, second one was horrendous for the most part, and third one was a lot of fun. Will no doubt watch the next addition.

Silly fun movies.

First and third ones were silly, but entertaining (other than the weird post-production 'airbrushing' of Ms Jovovich). The middle one was irredeemably awful.

I think Apocalypse Was the weakest of all the movies. There wasn't really much of a plot. Other than the "trapped in a city" rubbish. The third one made up for it though.

Milla hasn't actually confirmed that she'll return..but she'll have to. It would be pointless otherwise :)

The problem with this trilogy is that the makers managed to alienate half the RE fans from the off by making the lead character someone who isn't even in the games. It would be like having the Tomb Raider movies with someone other than Lara Croft at the helm. Bad, bad move.
The first film has it's moments, but overrall it was disappointing, the second was terrible, even Nemesis couldn't save it. The third is the best of the 3 imo, but it's still very average.
Imo they should start again - give the Directing job to Romero (who was the original choice), sack the invented characters, and stick to a trio of leaRAB in Claire, Leon and the mighty Gill Valentine.

I prefer the storyline in the movies. The producer told Romero that they wanted to go down a different path with the movie...but he went and wrote a script (as for the first game). Thats why they got rid of him. I understand why people find it annoying that Alice is the lead (and her not being in the games makes it worse). But i think they wanted to open new doors to the franchise.

Well since I'm not a player of the games it didn't bother me about character changes and so on.

Did she appear in the second movie played by that actress I can't remember the name of. If so, they got to change the actress, she was awful.

Well it was obvious to anyone really that they would have to change the storyline for the movie - 90 minutes of the lead wandering around unlocking doors and searching for keys with the odd shock wouldn't be much fun :D They could have done better than that crappy story they came up with tho! They should have started at RE2, where Claire & Leon arrive at a decimated Raccoon City. I'm not sure about opening new doors - the game was MASSIVE, they didn't need to look for a new fanbase.

I think it's not so much the lack of characters from the games that annoys fans, more the fact that they dispensed with so much that was good about the original game and it's plot.

The first game starts out as a typical zombie story, with a wonderfully creepy mansion to explore. A gloriously sinister and unsettling atmosphere grows as you slowly realise that that this is actually caused by a virus, and then finding that the virus was engineered by Umbrella. And then you find the secret underground hi-tech lab. The movie just jumped right into the ending, and completely avoided the build-up.

The second film seemed to get more things right from Resi 2 & 3, and the inclusion of Jill Valentine was an attempt to please the fans, but it doesn't excuse the missed opportunity with the first film.

What a coincidence, I am in the middle of watching all three Resident Evil movies right now, and I still like them today. I like ridiculous, and I like movies made for the heck of entertainment, and that is what I feel they did with these ones. Thoroughly enjoyable, if you ask me.

I like the first one and think it is often under-rated. It's very intense. I'm happy with the classic "wakes up with no memory" story and the ambivalent computer and the conspiracy etc. I'm not especially into zombies but I loved the doggie moment.

The second one was rubbish.

The third one was OK. There are some nice scenes, but it also felt very, very derivative. Especially of itself - it brought back a lot of the signature ideas from the first film.

It's time they made a movie out of the System Shock games. ("Why do you persist in your loneliness?")

I know that some critics have said they feel that they feel the movie just wasn't "horror" enough.

That proberly means they lack scary parts.

The RE series does seem to be losing its appeal. The last one was the worst as it ripped off so many other movies in the process.

Did it ever explain what happened to Jill Valentine?

Plus, how many zombies in overalls can you fit in a crate?

I like the franchise, anyone expecting them to be 10 out of 10 oscar contenders are dillusional - these are fun, popcorn, throw-away films.

My favourite is the first one, the second one was a bit all over the place but I still enjoyed it, the third one I've only just seen and I was slightly distracted throughout it so will probably need to rewatch it before I give my official opinion on it ;)

According to the novel (the movie novel) it says that Jill Valentine went her seperate ways from Alice and Carlos etc. She got her own convoy (like Claire). But they went into (Austrailia i think) and most of them died. Nothing has been said since about her :(

blah ive done away wth these ones now there too chessy for me.

but there is hope because sony is making a new resident evil movie called
resident evil degeneration-which looks much better than any of these 3 movies.. and truely made for RE FANS with leon and claire init + its all in glorious 3d baby. COOL
