The red light keeps flashing with my vivitar vivicam.?

The manual states that this means the flash is charging but the blinking never stops and I cannot take a picture. Any suggestions?
 
Using the flash requires lots of battery power. So, if your camera is struggling to charge the flash, I would say there's a good chance that your batteries are either not adequately charged or they are just not good enough.

Using ordinary alkaline batteries isn't really good enough to provide much power. If this is the type of battery you are currently using, you should probably look at using a better type of battery. Most people either use rechargeable NiMH or non rechargeable Lithium batteries (if their cameras use AA size batteries). These types of batteries provide much more power than regular alkaline batteries...
