Beauty and the beast is my favourite too :) but i love that they're going back to animation and musical movies with a heart, they were the ones that most affected me as a child, I remember being swept up by the magic, i think pixar's movies are great but they've not got the same movie magic thats so important in kids movies.

i saw this a while ago with my mum and niece, my niece has grown up on Finding Nemo, and the newe version of aninmation,, she said it was the best movie she'd ever seen, has she's just like her auntie she's seen lots of movies.

Mum loved it and wants more movie done like it.
I like it to not my favourite (that's beauty and the beast) but at least it done in the same style and all.

:bump: I saw this today and fell in love, its the best disney film i've seen in yeaaaaaaars, loved the music and the characters, i laughed, i cried, kind of perfect really.

I'm looking forward to this movie. It's been a long time since I've watched a disney film.;)

Thanks for the photos and information! I don't think I've ever heard of this film. It's exciting that it's going to be an old school Disney film :)

Thank you for that picture! It's looking good. :D

I like it all except the whole voodoo business. New Orleans can't shake that cliche that limits the scope of the stories that could be told from the streets of their city.

bumping with a new pic:

Walt Disney Pictures has revealed this first photo of princess Tiana in the studio's traditionally-animated The Princess and the Frog, coming to theaters in 2009. The movie is written and directed by John Musker and Ron Clements and features the music of Randy Newman.

A musical set in the legendary birthplace of jazz -- New Orleans -- The Princess and the Frog will introduce the newest Disney princess, Tiana (voiced by Anika Noni Rose), a young African-American girl living amid the charming elegance and grandeur of the fabled French Quarter. From the heart of Louisiana's mystical bayous and the banks of the mighty Mississippi comes an unforgettable tale of love, enchantment and discovery with a soulful singing crocodile, voodoo spells and Cajun charm at every turn.

oh, hadn't heard about this one yet. I would love for Anika to get it---she was my favorite thing about Dreamgirls.

I'll have to look a bit more into this movie---especially since it's 2-D.

I love the dress also!

Just read a bit about it.....Her name is Maddy and the movie will take place in New Orleans.
