THE perfect phone

The N95 is currently the best phone out there, its perfect. It has EVERYthing. I know that there will always be consumers who just need a simple or basic phone, or a PDS type phone, but nokia only needs to keep and update one phone. I was looking at the n73 and n93, but the n95 does everything these phones do, music, best cam, movie record, wifi, USB, stereo jack, etc. dang!! looks like i wont be getting the n73 nor n93........ Why did they even release the n93i ??

what do you all think>

The N95 is on the big side. Anyone who likes thin phones like me would not be very pleased with the form factor. The N95 also has no US 3G, which is a big issue for people who use a lot of data. It also has no QWERTY keyboard, for those who like it. While the software is an improvement on previous S60v3 devices, it's still far from perfect as far as speed and stability goes. So no, the N95 is not the perfect device. It's just the best all around high end device Nokia has at this point in time.

hey! nothing is perfect in this world.... theres only stuff that is near perfect~ and i think n95 is one of them.
compare to nokia's rival, symbian os is pretty stable. as for us 3g, im glad that they had european 3g instead. us 3g only covers north america whereas the european 3g basically covers everything else. so for global coverage, european 3g is better than us 3g. i do agree with angel that n95 should come with optical zoom, but i would rather hope that nokia fix the noise from the images instead.

From the looks of it the N75 will be a Cingular exclusive, and I'm in Canada so while I share the UMTS frequencies I don't share the provider. The N75 also doesn't have wi-fi which I need. I was simply commenting that the N95 may be perfect for him but it is not "the perfect phone".

I'll only agree with the statement that everyone has different preferences. One person's perfect phone may not even be considered by the next. Because of different tastes and carrier technology, i think it would be near impossible to make a phone perfect for everyone and still keep a reasonable size/price.

well u are all true, so now i am wondering then why did nokia even bother with other phones taht ccome close to price in similarity. for example since they just released the n93i, why would anyone get that? For a bit more you get all that and more in the n95 right? so basically you either get nokia lowe end phone, and might as well forget n73, etc. since if you save a little more and spend a little more you get A WHOLE LOT more. but i do agree that preferences will play a huge role though. thanks guys

they need to at least triple the RAM before i'd consider using the word perfect for any of their phones. they can put all the features in the world on there, but they require RAM to run...

if the RAM can't keep up with the hardware and the programs being designed for the phone...whats the point?

I have a couple of questions. For example, Im on T-Mobile, they dont even offer 3G and who knows when they will.

Will the N95 utilize Edge? Im so confused on some of these new phones that offer UMTS 2100 and GSM 900/1800/1900. Would I be able to use this on T-Mobile but not get Edge speeds?

It seems to me that at least initially the N95 will not be the phone to have in the US (although Im dying to get one) because it wont utilize Edge.

Am I right?

What GSM services in US offer 3G, Cingular?

You'll be able to use EDGE with the N95 on both T-Mobile and Cingular, since the N95 is quadband GSM. The N95 only offers UMTS 2100, which is only available across the pond. To get 3G speeds on Cingular in the US, the N95 would have to have UMTS 1900 (which is different from GSM 1900).

Does that make sense?

No phone could EVER be perfect unless it offered both an UMTS/HSPDA 2100 AND a 1900 version. Otherwise, no dice.

Living in the US is really hard for someone who enjoys quality phones because we basically get j@cked in that regard.

Not to change topic, but I made the worst observation when playing with one of those at a Best Buy the other night. I worked my way into the system directory to try to send my N73 some of the ringtones that were on the device. They were simple wav files, nothing special. The options to send over email, Bluetooth, or anything else was greyed. Cingular branding at its finest.

Finding out that the N95 is a little light in the loafers (RAM that is =)) I would have to exclude it from the perfect phone list.

Its funny this ram issue, i used plenty of windows mobile that has better ram so to speak, but would often freeze and move slower than my n73 ever did when apps are open, dont get me wrong i understand the concern and i agree but i hardly get memory full issues with my n73, but then again not running same apps i guess as those that are getting it.
