ever find yourself drawn to...? ... an artist from an era of which you have no knowledge and comprehension, where the subject matter and the context to you is completely foreign? I love his art work, but for its own sake. For me the painting and it's contextual backdrop are normally disconnected,. Often I don't know of the artist's life history, ignorant of the antecedents which lead him/her to envision what they did. I wonder sometimes whether this diminishes my exeperience of their art... your thoughts?
