The pain of discipline is far less than the pain of regret?

If you live according to social moral, it would cost you less; if you don't for the social moral, you will pay your penalty.

However, Jesus opposed on that view:
Matthew 9:13 But go ye and learn what this is, I (Jesus) will have mercy, and not sacrifice, for I (Jesus) am not come to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance.

The pain of regret would be washing away by the Blood of Jesus.

When i see this i think: applying yourself vs not applying yourself in life. It takes effort to see something through - There can be challenges along the way- but if you have the discipline you stick with the plan, and there may be some pain - but ultimately a goal is reached. Without discipline, one cannot see something through. Knowing you could have achieved something had you possessed the discipline to see it through is a pain without a reward. Sometimes in life you have a window of opportunity ,and if you decide not to make a move because it would require that you apply yourself to something ,- you may be putting yourself in a spot where- somewhere down the line - It will be too late to change your mind.
