The above is a link to the press release by PalmSource and Access (The new owner from last summer) about the next generation of the Palm OS.
It will be based upon Linux and should still run most of the older Palm applications with some added multitasking capabilities and better wireless handling.
So far of all of the stuff that I've read - Palm itself has not mentioned anything about this press release and to the capabilities of it on future devices. This is not necessarily a bad thing since the OS probably won't show up on devices until 2007.....does this remind you of Cobalt?
There was a lot of hype etc but until a hardware designer/developer actually endorses or puts out a product, well time will tell.
At least we can hope for some amount of backwards compatibility for our current programs.
