The Motorola Droid for Verizon?

Does it require a special contract? I know the Blackberry's require the Blackberry contract that's $30 a month, but do the smartphones require the same thing?
And also, is the Droid really worth it?
I'm not getting the iPhone, I have Verizon and I won't switch my contract just for a phone.

my brother has the droid. yes, it requires a $30/month contract. you can't get the phone without the data package, it's either 30 bucks a month or nothing. my brother loves it. i want a new phone, but wont get the droid because he has it. i was looking at other options, and i found the htc droid eris. i'm in love with it and reviews say it's better than the moto droid. you should look into it. also costs $30/month. hope this helps
 
Yes it requires a data plan. Im not sure how much but i would think the same as a bb $30 a month. I have not played with the phone but i have seen someone using it and it does look worth it. If you like to be on the internet and do all that fancy stuff i would buy it. Also it looks like a nice phone so if your clumsy with phones then i would suggest passing on it. Go to the store and fool around with it and then make your decison. Happy choosing:)
