...arms, do you agree? The 2nd Amendment- A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
I believe the whole concept of the 2nd amendment is that in order to have a country which serves its citizens the best, you need to have a network-sort of militia formed within the country, in which if the government becomes tyrannical, then the citizens should easily have the power to over turn that government. Because of the British's harsh rule and treatment of the Americans such as the taxation without representation, the American's revolted against this tyrannical rule, and the only reason they were successful was because had the same technology as the British Army.
Also, in order to have your other rights, you must yourself own a gun. If there were no guns in our country, and lets say the American people are strongly against something such as (hypothetical) switching completely to communism, well if you don't have anything to back your words and opinion up with, then it means absolutely nothing. The way the governement would think is "Well if that 'citizen' can't physically stop us, then why would we care what his opinion is?". You can't stand up against the government if you can't fight them.

If there ever were a civil war of any kind, I am pretty sure it would be liberals against conservatives, and liberals are scared and want to get rid of guns because they know that they would lose in a war because conservatives own all the guns.
