The mic on my headset isnt..?

working...


so here the story >_>
I formatted my computer and i installed things like my drivers and utilites disk
but the mic still isnt working on my headset?

yet my webcam works as a mic ( not great since it always goes static which is why i want my headset working )
Ive also got a new headset just incase the problem was with the microphone. So neither of the mics are working but the headphones are . I can hear things from my headset yet i cant use its mic?
Im confused what the problem is here..
anyone help??
i use voice chat alot and this webcam is very annoying to use :/

Go to Control Panel: Sounds and Audio Devices: Audio tab, and make sure your headset mic is set as the default recording device. If you're trying to record through software which manages its own sound config, make sure your recording device is also set properly in that program.

Open Volume Control by double-clicking the speaker icon in the system tray. Go to Options: Properties and make sure you're managing volume controls for your headset. Check both Playback and Recording categories for a Microphone setting; make sure volume isn't all the way down on these.
