condion other than....? my complaint that the brakes squeak. He also said I could use a new battery. He said mine is cranking at 455 and it should crank at 500 and something.I'm not sure of the correct number. GUYS, WHAT IS THE CORRECT NUMBER IT SHOULD CRANK AT AND WHAT'S THE MOST DEPENDABLE BATTERY NAME THAT I SHOULD PURCHASE FOR MY MAKE OF CAR AND THIS COLD WEATHER? He also said my filter is dirty and that I need a flush. What does that mean? What's a ballpark figure that various shops like Midas, Pep Boys, etc will charge me to take care of this? Lastly, can I say again "I appreciate you guys who know you're stuff and your professional advice that you offering me." Thanks so much guys, you're awesome."

Cranking amps is used to describe the discharge load in amperes (amps) which a new, fully charged battery at 32 degrees, can continuously deliver for 30 seconds and maintain a terminal voltage equal or greater than 1.2 volts per cell. For the winter, you will want to find a battery with higher CCA (cold cranking amps). This is a measure of a battery's ability to start a car in cold weather. Interstate and Exide make good batteries. As far as a filter flush, I have never heard of that terminology, but if your filter is dirty (oil, air, or fuel filter), it should be changed.

Battery. any 750 cold cranking amp is good. Auto zone.
Squeaking brakes. This is caused from waiting too long to apply your
brakes when approaching a red light or stop sign. A little brake fluid
and a sheet of sand paper to remove the glazed spots on the shoe will
take care of that. A clean filter will give you better gas mileage. If its
not running hot I would delay the flushing of the radiator. Watch the
heat gage. I have done all my own work so I don't know the prices the
shops will charge. Hope that helps
