You do know that he was Supreme Commander of the Allied forces during the European Campaign of WW II.
As our President, it appears that his greatest accomplishment was our Interstate Highway system.
You're too young to remember but with all the carnage on our present highways, before the Interstates, it was pretty terrible. He tried to prevent that by connecting our largest cities with safer highways.
I drove on those two lane highways with overcrowded traffic, mountain roads, narrow and winding, with heavy trucks, impatient drivers, passing on blind curves.....no lighting, very narrow berms, need I say more?
I remember Interstate 45, Houston to Dallas, TX. Signs were posted regularly, every month,
"15 Fatalities Last Month". On and on and on, until the Intertate was built and finished.
I45 from Houston to Galveston, weekend beach goers. Absolutely horrendous going and coming.
Three lane highways, meant to be passing lanes. Some drivers staying in the third lane, until they met an oncoming driver passing.
Get the picture?
This is what Eisenhower tried to prevent.
Maybe I forgot other accomplishments.
