The Law on Quad bikes, Help Me!?

hi, im thinking about buying a Quadbike but have no idea what the law is around it, can you ride it on motorways, what licence do you have to hold etc.....

i ride a quad bike on the roads the law is the same as in a car ,classed as 4 wheels so same rules same licence
