I'm dying for them to release Sleeping Beauty again . .It's one of my fave Disney Movies and you can't get it in the shops anymore .. I asked when I was at Disneyworld last Summer :'(

I know I could get it on ebay somewhere .. but I'd like to have my own copy!

This was released as a widescreen special edition on R2 long before R1 got their special edition and it seemed to disappear quite quickly.

If you can offer me an extortionate amount I may sell mine.

As its only recently been deleted I think another dvd release is unlikely.

No doubt an HDDVD or Blu-Ray release will follow in the next few years.

Why do Disney not release their films in widescreen? Most of the time they are in 4:3, but if a 2 disc special edition comes out, lo-and-behold it is in widescreen. Simple, to get more money out of people. Monsters Inc is one DVD that springs to mind. 1 disc edition is 4:3, 2 disc edition is 16:9. B*****RAB!

No,its because Disney UK cant understand that their audience is not just kiRAB.

Disney US are a lot better.
When Lady and The Tramp was first released in 1999/2000 the UK version had 50% of the picture missing while the US edition was in full widescreen as per the later special edition.

Films like Pollyanna,Parent trap (original) 20000 leagues Under the sea and The Love Bug are available on R1 in extras laden 2 disc sets for under a tenner.

But not on R2.
And the superb Walt Disney Treasures Tins are an annual R1 event .
The UK has had very few of those compared to R1

I work at the Disney Store. If you go to your local store and ask, we have a list of when the classic DVD's will be released again. I think Sleeping Beauty is being released either 2008 or 2009.
Beauty and the Beast isn't being re-released until 2012!
