Anyone else seen the trailers for this. it looks very interesting, plus scarlett johansen and the gorgeous ewan mcgregor are starring in it!

Yeah I have seen the trailers for The Island and it does look really good. Its due to be released in the UK on the 12th of August so only just under a month untill we can see it!

I'm a bit apprehensive about this one my boyfriend is reading the book which he says is superb but not even set on an Island so I think it is obviously going to get the Hollywood "adaptation" treatment.

Also Ewan McGregor was quoted as saying a few weeks ago that he thinks he is going to get an absolute slating off the British press for being a Hollywood sell out over this which doesn't bode well he normally only speaks out if he knows something is s**t i.e The Phantom Menace. I know Sean Bean is playing his standard rent a British villan role that he has churned out so many times in the lasr few years.

Spot on. Has been critically panned on release. I think Sean Bean and Ewen McGregor should start actually reading their scripts before accepting their paycheck. I'll let Scarlett off but they are old and rich enough to know better.

Ewan McGregor isn't a terrible actor at all.

Just, y'know, for your info. Here to help.

Bay on the other hand, is a very strange one. It's as if 1997 came, he took time out, and thought, Right, form now on, i'm only making absolutely s**te films.

And to be fair to him, he's stuck by that promise.

:D True he'll stop getting given the budgets soon and will maybe start making something decent.

I think McGregor is a good actor he just seems to make bad choices with big budget movies.

He's brilliant in Young Adam and Shallow Grave. I don't begrudge him making his big money doing average/weak stiuff in Hollywood off the back of great performances in the parts he chooses, rather than the films that choose him.

I haven't really heard much about this film, haven't read my Empire yet, but I love films set in the future and Ewan McGregor, so I'm looking forward to it!

There are 3 L's to this film:
Loud, Long and Laboured.

That said, I also found it fairly exciting and absorbing enough to keep my interest throughout although to be fair, it probably isn't going to stay with you too long. The second half of the film plays like a continuous chase sequence with just the odd change in location and mode of transport.

I am going to see The Island tonight and I cant wait to see it dispite the average reviews that it has been recieving. I am just looking forward to lots of mindless action!

im really looking forward to seeing the island , all that im worried about is that ewam mcgregor is in it and i cant bare him he ruins every film he appears in , hopefully the film will be good and he wont ruin it too much

Just got back from seeing this one. I thought it was rather good and it didn't drag for a 2.5 hour movie.

Still that could because me and Scarlett are quite close... in my dreams.

The English critics seem to have given the film a better response that the yanks. A couple of people I know have seen it and say its good for what it is a big budget blockbuster.
