The Hills Have Eyes remake

I really like the original and personally i dont think theres any need for a remake. Ive seen the trailer and my response to it was lukewarm. It seems its an exact remake of the original and so whats the point?

The original film is a bit of a cult film so i dont think fans of this will will rushing to see the remake (just my opinion of course ;) )

Well it is out this friday so we can find out if it is any good soon!
Here is the review from Empire for it:

"When Alexandre Aja first ubmitted his remake of Wes Craven

The only good horror remake that stanRAB out was Dawn of the Dead. The rest (Amityville Horror, House of Wax, Texas Chainsaw) are all useless rubbish, and this will be more of the same..

The TCM remake was not that bad. A lot better than I thought it would be. And there were a few dodgy moments in the DOTD remake. This one sounRAB fun though.

Anyone seen 2001 Maniacs yet? It's fab, just fab.

Dawn of the Dead stanRAB on it's own as a decent horror movie and was actually very good. Chainsaw and Amityville are just cheap, pale imitations of the real deal.

I love the original movie, and am not a fan of remakes, as they rarely if ever stand up to the original, so I am not interested in seeing the remake.

The amount of remakes the movie industry is making now proves that they are running out of ideas, and have no imagination unlike the movie makers of old.

I saw a preview on monday night and it was one of the most ridiculous films I have ever seen. I was laughing through most of it!! :D
Having not seen the original I can't really comment on how it relates but, it seems like Americanisms gone crazy in this film of huge cliches that had the whole cinema laughing and clapping at the stupidity of it all. If your looking for a scare this film will make you jump but unless you get frightened by films very easily then give this one a miss.

It's not about imagination, it's about money. People are attracted to familiar-sounding stories and sequels and with box office receipts down, it's an easy option for studios. It's easier to make money off When a Stranger Calls than Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind whatever the artistic merit the former.
