The heating in my ford fiesta 2002 has stopped Working?

i recently bought a ford fiesta and have only just noticed that the heating in it doesn't work, the fan works ok the only problem is when i turn the dial to the red cold air continues to blast out. Does anyone have any ideas what would be wrong, the other problem is the vehicle didnt come with an owners manual so i have no idea what is what in the engine bay i have a rough idea, if anyone knows where i can download one that would be of benefit also

check your coolant levels , probably running low , i bet that works , i bet i bet i bet
 
I took mine to the garage, where the mechanic opened the bonet and peered in, he took out a large heavy rubber mallet and gave the crankshaft a mighty whack, it fixed the problem,he said thats £100 please. Hell thats a bit steep isnt it I said, for just hitting it like that. He said no, the hit is only 1 penny, the rest is knowing where to hit it.
