The Halloween/Bonfire Night TV Thread 2010

Inspired by the Christmas Tv thread I thought Id just ask if theres anything at all to do with these two holidays comming up.

Like BBC one use to allways show the classic John Carpenter film "Halloween" on Holoween night, and a big Fireworks night disaster on Casualty on Bonfire Night (or the saturday before Bonfire night).

Any idea what will be shown this year.
 
It isn't Halloween without the Halloween movies. So I hope they're on. BBC2 often showed the original on Halloween with parts 4 and 5 sometimes being on BBC1.

Channel 5 often used to show Halloween 3. :D
 
Wish they'd put Ghostwatch on BBC 4.It deserves a repeat - it's very influential and a legend of British TV,shame it's never been shown since.

Halloween is nearly always on at some point.Five USA or ITV 4 will no doubt show the Exorcist and/or the Fog.I also believe Halloween 2007 will premiere on Channel 4 that night.
 
In this country Bonfire night appears to run continually from mid October to mid November. Its little more than licensed anti social behaviour - related to the celebration of the persecution of Catholics. Very odd we seem to get some enjoyment as well about celebrating someone getting burned to death.
 
Like I said, Casualty usualy do a big Bonfire night plot invlolving some youths playing around with Fireworks only to end up on holbys A&E department.

Or the soaps they do the same types of storyline.

About Holloween I remember one year Five US showed a season of Stephen King movies.
 
Just though id let you know that on the weekend leading up to Halloween Film 4 will be showing Sleepy Hollow, The Disappeared and Rosemary's Baby on Friday Night, and On Satruday Night Film 4 will show the sci-fi horror Alien and on Holloween Night itself Film 4 will be showing
The Others, White Noise and The Innocents. Meanwhile on BBC1 on Friday before Halloween, Halloween: Resurrection will be aired and ITV will air The Amityville Horror.
 
It's also funny how people always look for grim, in-depth realities rather than just bask in a family celebration. What we are cele4brating is the fact that a plot by a tudor terrorist to blow up Parliament and the King was foiled and that the country was able to continue without a devastating disruption. Guy Fawkes was executed. It is a good old fashioned fable of good (our country) overcoming evil (Guy Fawkes) and is therefore worthy of celebrating.

All celebrations in Europe in particular, have origins stemming from grim realities but it's what makes democracy the thing it is today. If we can't embrace, learn and celebrate our past and history, what's the point?
 
No real effort by the terrestrials for Halloween. Can't say I noticed any Hallowe'en / horror themed films for broadcast on the night. Usually the BBC or ITV stick in Hocus Pocus somewhere but not this year it seems.
