what was the roll of the media in reporting the story and/or influencing public opinioin?

that is a hard one they all are trying to worry us we should me more scared about getting the common flu dont worry wash hands alot and you will be fin
 
The media reports sensations, not news. So they are taking a very boring subject and trying to make it sensational. In the process many people are scared and showing up in emergency rooms at the first symptoms of a virus.
