The Great Alpine Road

thanks for the comments

I think it was a couple of things. what twisted said, also a security issue, where we didn't know if we would wake up the next day and find our bikes or not, especially in Italy. Another was Twisted's Desmo hasn't done the 600mile service yet, so it would be pointless to not be able to ride a bike hard in such a place.

No need to ship he bike. all you need is a plane ticket and a place to stay. there a couple of places that do rent Ducati's and MV Agusta's in Switzerland and Italy

There a place I know of here that would rent you a Ducati 1098s for 220 dollars a day. Price can also be reduced for long rental periods.

Dollars or Euros?

I'm certainly envious. I was just finishing my first Alps trip this time last year. The roads there are an absolute gift from God. Unfortunately the 1098, 1198 etc are out for me unless I find someone else who can ride and the wife decides to stay home (fat chance). Thus I need a 2 up capable mount.

Even so, it's still worth going. I'd hoped to get back this year, but it's just not financially doable unless we get one hell of a chunk off the airfare... I'm probably best off saving for next year.

no that's in dollars. you could also rent a 999 biposto for 200 dollars a day or a multistrada for 140 a day.

If and when you plan on coming let me know, I might be free and we could plan a ride together.

That's more like it. I could sell TOWMBO on a M/S pillion. Last year's festivities went like this:

She'll never straddle another brand-b for sure.

BTW, where -more specifically-?
