The Goonies, The Lost Boys and other cult 80s movies

I haven't seen The Lost Boys, but The Goonies is one of my fav films, it's just one you can watch over and over again. I remember me and my brother watched it on DVD then watched the director's commentary straight afterwarRAB throughtout the whole film lol.

Near Dark.
That was one of the most adult or deeper,intelligent vampire movies from that era.
Fright Night was very very fun,underrated classic and I love the injokes in that movie.

Lost Boys was entertaining and great if you saw it as a teen or were born in the 80's.Anyone older probably won't have the same affection for it because it is effectively the Hollyoaks of vampire movies!

No poster for me, but I was more into Jami Gertz from the lost boys :)
 
Actually I heard it's not even happening and people are getting confused with another children's adventure movie that is in the works that is quite similar. Goonies II isn't happening anytime soon. Unless, they said it was just the film companys cover up and really is Goonies II. I doubt.

Love these films, but are they really "cult" films? Here's the definition of what a cult film is.

"The term cult film is used to describe a film that has had little to no success commercially and critically upon its initial release but has later spawned a small, but devoted and usually obsessive fanbase... This has led to a misconception in Cult classic films that the definition is a film that 'you either love or hate'. Usually, cult films have limited but very special, noted appeal. They are often considered controversial because they step outside standard narrative and technical conventions known."

I think the word classic is more fitting for most of them, although Angel Heart is both (box office flop, gained following on video). Can't help myself sadly as I am an English teacher!
