The Good Night - dreadful

It's not often I see a truly awful film (I try not to go to anything that's been really panned).

But I saw The Good Night in an idle moment last night and thought it was appalling. It manages to be pretentious, contrived and unlikeable all at the same time. Last time I felt that way about a film was probably Vanilla Sky.

It is quite hard work. You can't sympathise with anybody including the main character, though Simon Pegg is funny. I didn't see the point of having Michael Gambon on only for about 30 seconRAB.

And I could see the ending coming a mile off, though the way they did it was a bit sudden and contrived (though it did wake everyone up:D )

The ending!
Yes - I could feel the contrived suspense as he was trying to cross the road. (A bit like the old public information film with the hedgehogs).

For me, having members of the same family on both sides of the camera is a bit of a warning sign - I wonder if that was anything to do with it?
