Exactly! Michael's path is so fascinating. How his choices made an impact on a whole association and so many people's lives. His motivation is so interesting, the way he slowly becomes such a killer. I mean, it's creepy.
 
Awesome pictures! I envy you! I'll add this to my list of goals - going to Sicily :sigh:

I like the Godfather2 more than The Godfather. But the trilogy, as a whole, is the best. Michael is a great character study. I love his rise from being a devoted family man to a ruthless killer.
 
I love the Godfather! It's nr 4 on my list of favorite films! I must say that I feel the Oscar for the second one should've gone to Pacino instead of to De Niro, who -to tell the truth- didn't impress me *that* much in the Godfather. My favorite De Niro film is the Deer Hunter. But in the Godfather Pacino > De Niro.

It was definetly the best vacation I have ever been to :sigh: I just wanted to stay there and never come back home. I went with my mother, but I think (and so does she) that it's definetly a place where you should go with your partner, it's very romantic and beautiful, at least in Taormina where we stayed, it was almost magical :love:

Okay, here are the piccies!! and some background info...

The scene's in the Godfather movies that were taken place in Sicily isn't actually filmed in Corleone but in a small village called Savoca, which I have taken a picture of from distance:

The real maffia in Corleone were not too happy about this movie and forbidded any kind of filming, so therefore the production had to move to Savoca. Although that wasn't the only place they filmed, some scene's were shot on other locations, like the scene where Vito as a child tries to escape from Corleone on his donkey (also seen in Godfather I).

This second place I'm gonna show you is in Savoca, and it's where Michael (Al Pacino) and his bodyguards go to a café which turns to be owned by Appollonia's father.

The café is truly beautiful, and in the inside they have hanged pictures, drawings and articles about the Godfather on their walls, and the best part is they had the soundtrack album on in the background the whole time:D
The owner of the café is still working there, it's a very old but very nice little lady named Marie. It was amazing that she was still working, she was so old and tiny! :lol:

I just HAVE to join this group. The Godfather movies are my favourites! Can never get sick of them.

Me and my mother went to Sicily this summer and we went to the village where they filmed some of the scene's from the Godfather. As a fan you can imagine how incredable that was, I pretty much died and went to heaven :sigh: :lol: It was the best vacation ever. When we came back home we watched our whole Godfather box all over again.

I'll post some pictures later of the Godfather locations if anyone's interested.

What's so great about Michael is the fact that he's so cold and calculating. It's scary to watch him be so great at being a criminal, but just have to admire the way he moves in a world that can you get killed if you don't outsmart people you have NO idea you should be worrying about. He would've been an incredible Senator. :D

Of course, though, he learned from the best.
 
What can I say about this classic that hasn't already been said? :lol:

I love the simplicity of the story in contrast to the full, incredibly ironic dialogue (like the line in the title.) Also, the way Michael's inevitable rise still manages to be captivating in its process.
