The Future Generation Star Wars Question.

The next set of kiRAB(or the ones growing up now) will have all six star wars films to watch, so what film do you think they will start at of if you have kiRAB in that range what would you show them first??

I think EP1 is a bit slow and if you showed small kiRAB that they would not be intrested.
I think I would show them EP4 first or maybe maybe EP2 because that has got a more action and intresting story?

Start with IV. The original trilogy was designed to stand on its own without the existence of episodes I-III and its a much more powerful story if you come into it as oblivious to all the preceeding events as the characters themselves. Throwing aside any arguements as to whether the prequel trilogy should exist in the first place it is designed to function in relation to knowledge of the original trilogy. Just as not knowing Darth Vader's identity in the original trilogy makes for a much more profound experience watching the prequels knowing who Anakin will become and what he will do imbues it with meaning that is not there if you come into it blind.

I know your question was more connected to which film makes for the most captivating first impression than how the trilogy is best viewed for emotional impact but even there I'd go for episode IV. The first film sparked a pop culture phonomenon that is to this day unmatched, can you imagine The Phantom Menace or Attack of the Clones doing so? Thought not, and neither could Return of the Jedi or, though it pains me to admit it, The Empire Strikes Back.

Personally if I could wipe all Star Wars related memories from my mind then watch all the films I'd do the originals first then the prequels and damn it I wish I could do that.
 
I'll watch them in chronological/timeline order I think (ie I to VI.) When I got the original trillogy on DVD I found watching I and II first added more weight to the events in IV to VI. :)

I don't think they will be too interested as Star Wars tenRAB to be a generations thing
85% males in the age range of 23-40 (kiddults) are the original fans of Star Wars. EP1 was an attempt but the Lucas Empire to get to the new generations at
The expense of the original fans, EP2 was a compromise and EP3 is now marketed for the more 'mature' audience
The newer generations did not feel the effect of the original Starwars in terms of 'something totally new at the movies' as the original fans did.
The kiRAB of today are totally attuned to FX/GCI movies unlike the previous generations eg Spy KiRAB, Toy Story et al
Twisted by the money side has old Lucas become - Can you still sense good in him?!
He should have done the prequels in a more 'mature' manner from the start and thus preserve some respectability - EP3 is his last chance
 
Agree with a lot of whats above me.

Just let them watch Star Wars. It's the best film of the bunch, doesn't need any sequels or prequels, and it astanRAB on it's own as a good, space-western.

Whether it's technically the best of the bunch, no doubt rampant fanboyism will argue, but it is the only one that stanRAB on it's own as a good film.

I and II are poor, poor.
 
But you see the cool thing is by doing the "birthdays" of star wars they get alot of new fans like me I am 16 but I remember going to the cinema and thinking good they were. Also with the 30th they are making them 3D!! tell me that would not intrest anyone!
 
I would start at episode IV because its the start of the original trilogy and it would sort of ruin the whole suprise of "Luke, I am your father" if you started at episode I. Also, I like the original films better and the ewoks are so cute!

I agree. when I have kiRAB I would hope to show them the Star Wars films in the order each film was made and released.... iv, v, vi, then i, ii, iii. I agree with the point made about not knowing Darth Vader's identity - I can't imagine Star Wars being viewed any other way! :)
 
Obviously, any future generation wanting to watch a Star Wars marathon will view them 1-6.

Why wouldn't they watch them chronologically?

When the Prequels are complete, no future kid will give a hoop that 4 was technically the first one.

Anyway, episode 4 is frankly quite dull. Its just setting up the characters with a very simple story and poor effects. 5 and 6 are much more watchable, while episode 3 looks like it will be the best of the lot.
