The Flight from Hell

Ok, so as most of you know, I'm in Ohio with my bf visiting his family for a couple of weeks. We flew on America Eagle (a division of American Airlines) and had a layover in Chicago. Ten minutes before our flight was supposed to leave, and we still weren't boarding, they told us that the flight was delayed. Then, a half hour later, they told us that our flight was canceled and we all had to re-book. (I found out later that they knew the plane was broken and that there wasn't even a flight crew for it.) We go to re-book and we're told we can only get on stand-by. So we get on the list and then wait an hour in line just to find out that we're number 34 and 35 on the list and that we weren't going to get on a flight that night. So they give us a voucher for a free supper, a free hotel room at the Ramada, and free breakfast. We decided to go down to baggage and check if our baggage was still in Chicago or if it was sent on to Columbus already. They told us to wait at one of the baggage areas and if our baggage didn't show up to come back in about 45 minutes. So we waited an hour and then came back. They checked their computer again and told us that our baggage was indeed in Ohio already. So we found the shuttle bus that was supposed to go to the Ramada. We got there only to find out that they were already over-booked and that some people with reservations were being turned away. So they sent us to the Double Tree hotel. It was a nice hotel, but at that point I was a half an hour drive from the airport and I was royally pissed off. I had some tea, watched some tv, and went to sleep. The next morning we caught the shuttle back to the airport and had breakfast. We finally got on our flight and made it to Ohio in one peice. For being my second time on a plane, it was quite a fiasco. Also, most of the day after our flight was cancelled, I had to be the positive one becuase my bf was pouting that things didn't go according to plans. I know that airlines screw up sometimes, but I really don't think I'm going to book a flight on American Airlines again. Hopefully our trip back will be better.

Yea, after a pilot on American Air almost nosed us into the tarmac at Salt Lake City, I decided to not book with them anymore, but I can identify with the horrible air trip stories. I booked Horizon and was on my way home, when we were told that our plane wasn't working and we needed to swap planes. By the way, we'd been sitting in the damned thing for an hour before they worked up the nerve to break the news. Anyway, we're told to go to a new plane, and by the time I got there it was full. So it's me and a man with his wife and daughter, and they tell us there's one more seat left!

Silly me, thinking I'd get it.

Since He was higher on 'the list' he got the seat. He argued with the lady for a bit about his wife and daughter, so I did the noble thing and stepped up saying I would take the seat, so they wouldn't be separated. Well right away the man agreed, but the lady behind the counter not only told us both no, but she did it in such a way to suggest that doing so would have made the plane go explodey. Or some such.

Anyway, my condolences, book Delta!

the plane ride i went on not too long ago was fun. our pilot was funny.
"Passengers we will now be dimming to lights for safety, to increase your comfort. and to increse the appearence of our flight attendences."

and during the middle of 'Everybody Loves Raymond' he made an announcement and excused himself for interupting a touching raymond moment.

then we clapped as the plane landed [as we always do, its just tradition] and he said " O.K. we have safely landed in the Dominican Republic! And to the people who where just clapping, were you not expecting that to happen?"

hes a cool guy.

Yeah, i've noticed that when airlines screw up, they screw up a fucking lot. Like what happened to Maddox once with Orbitz, and the constant crappy shows on TV about airport fuckups, usually just easyJet.. oh, how i hate easyJet.

And Repth that announcer guy sounds fun

Our first pilot was funny. At least he was trying to be. But when we landed it felt like the fricking plane was going to fall apart. And the staff wasn't nice at all. I'm sticking with northwest or delta or anyone else from now on. I wrote the airline an e-mail today, we'll see what they write back.

AA had no control over this but it did happen on an AA flight. I was on a flight from LA to Honolulu and there was a lady in the seat in front of me. Somewhere in the middle of the Pacific she decides to go ape shit. She starts screaming "Let me out" "Let me out".... she runs to the door and starts pulling on the handle.

Knowing that there are thousands of pounds of pressure on the door and that there was no way in hell she could open it did not make me feel any better.... anyway... 2 guys in regular clothes (I'm thinking undercover Homeland Security or some shit) come running down the aisle and take her up front. A minute or so later they make an announcement that if there is a doctor on the plane to come to the front.

About 10 minutes later they bring her back and she is OUT COLD. She didnt wake up for the rest of the flight.

Everytime I fly AA something worth talking about happens.

Ok, so this morning I got an e-mail from American Airlines. They are sending me a voucher for a discount on my next airline ticket perchase from American Airlines of American Eagle flights. Do they not understand that I don't want to fly with them anymore?! I'll have to see how much the voucher is for. Maybe my bf and I can use it for a trip over spring break. *sigh* I just hope our trip back home is better.

I may possibly be flying solo, from NYC to California this Summer, to meet and hang out with a friend for a week.

Scratch that - a brother. We love each other like brothers and are nearly identical.

And I'm fucking dreading the airlines. That and the fact my Compaq laptop I'm buying will only last 1/4 the flight.
