The extent of PHP and ASP?

Using PHP or ASP, are we able to create web pages or applications such as Facebook or Youtube? OR more software is required?

these two are scripting language. you need other tools also. Youtube uses Adobe flash player for video. you need server to support it, database to store info and so on..

php is free just as good as ASP.NET only more coding is required as it doesn't come with an inbuilt framework, to develop php sites just grab WAMP and a copy of dreamweaver .
Hosting is another matter entirely but to create them the aforementioned software is all u need.
(can use notepad instead of dreamweaver but can get messy)
