In 2006 after an intense semifinal that was won at the last minute and an equally hard final match after seeing my team eliminated at some point for the past 20 years it finally won the world cup and was able to claim the trophy much to the joy of the nation.
In a related question I asked what would happen if America would win the cup, an answerer said many americans would jump on the bandwagon, but loose interest when their team looses again.
Do you think it is true that Americans only support winners or those who are a safe enough bet, loosing interest if expectations are not met
