The effect of the number of years of a highschool sport on acceptance to college?

I play volleyball at high school. I have played for the past three years, and will be a senior this coming year. I was thinking of not participating in volleyball this year. I was wondering if colleges put an emphasis on completing four years of a high school sport. Does having 3 years show lack of commitment? I will be doing other things in place of volleyball, and i have a very high GPA, but will not doing volleyball leave a bad impression?

Not really, most college admissions offices will just want to know what activities you are involved in. The number of years and time that you have participated may be asked, but usually they will only know that information if you give it to them.
If I were you, I would continue with volleyball during your senior year for the fun of it. This may come as a shock to most people, but your grades your senior year mean the least out of all four years in high school. This is because the deadlines and times to apply for college will be before most high schools even ends their first semester/term. The college will never see your senior grades until after they accept you. But you still must pass all of your classes to graduate. Leave your fresh-junior years to worry about grades and your senior year to be active in your school. It will be the last that you will spend there.
