The Day After Tomorrow error?

In the film, The Day after Tomorrow, I've found something weird...

When Jack and Jason go to look for Sam and his bunch, Jack walks up to New York from the south, but when he enters New York, there is the Statue of Liberty, which is on the west side of New York.

Unless Jack and Jason just walked over the Atlantic Ocean.

I hope you understand what I'm saying. Cause this is kinda weird. :confused:

Maybe there were some dangerously weak icy patches or other obstacles that caused them to go around somewhat slightly - OK, a lot out of the way, but still... - which then caused them to approach from the other direction.

But as someone said, it's just dramatic licence cos it looked cooler.
 
Did anyone else notice these few mistakes:

The guys in Scotland were cheering on a Man U match, They had Sky news with no STB (or come to think of it a Dish and I can't see that remote island getting cable or FV, so dont start!). Also when they are about to die, the men say "TO ENGLAND". Apart from that, and the wolves, the fact they walked into NY the wrong way I realy enjoyed the film.
 
Ah, but it's crucial to remember that in the US the entire island of Britain is "England". I was particularly surprised that in the new series, Lost (from ABC, the one with the plane crash), Dominic Monaghan (Merry or Pippin, can never remember!), his character, Charlie, is talking about his ability to fish, and goes on to say, "England is an island, you know."

Duh. Not alone that, but one would have assumed his character is Scottish!

Of course, this isn't so much him as an actor not knowing as him having to speak the worRAB that are placed in his mouth, but still, like in TDAT, it's not great...

The two Scottish guys cheering on Man U was just silly - could easily have been a Scottish team and it wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference to the plot.
 
Yer, why didnt they just support Rangers or some other Scottish team. They dont really sound like they speak scottish!

Anyway, a bit off topic, Manchester United are playing Manchester City! Not saying I support them, its just that my sister doesnt get how people from the same place can play each other!

You know it is possible that they English scientists who were currently working in Scotland. ;)

Oh, and you're telling me they were monitoring the sea temperatures over a large area and could video conference with the US but unlikely to be able watch Sky? :rolleyes:
 
Also when the guy comes back from checking the generator he says " we are almost out of petrol" or worRAB to that effect but from the slow tickover the generator is obviously a diesel generator!

Great film though!

Although I think the wolves were not needed and kind of spoiled it because they were CGI and not done very well!
 
The film was great, until the cheese kicked in when his dad went looking for him!

Wolves were just wrong! Reminded me of Van Helsing (which was shit :p)

The statue of liberty thing was just to inform the dumb people that they were in New York - similarly that almost all films set in Paris or featuring Paris have the Eiffel tower in the window of the house (or whatever)
