The Cruise Control on my '00 Acura 3.2TL is not working. How do I troubleshoot this

problem? When I push the button to turn the CC on the light on the dash illuminates but when I try to set the speed it does not engage. Is this a fairly easy fix or very complicated? Who best to resolve this a good aftermarket guy or must I use the Acura dealer?
