The Cricket WAP Proxy Thread

She did WHAT !

Hey, all!

Just thought I would take the liberty of starting a thread devoted to all things WAP/Proxy for Cricket.

The two main goals of this thread are:

--Free WAP (without having to pay the extra $5 per month), and
--Unrestricted browsing (to bypass the Error 403 Forbidden message you get when trying to enter your own URL)

So please share any of your tips, suggestions, solutions, etc. if you have gotten free WAP to work with Cricket.

yes! ive been trying to figure this out since the day i got the text message saying that internet is availbe for the razr can somebody pleaseee find a solution to this problem

Cricket will provide a solution to this problem themselves.

You are currently using Phase 1 of the internet rollout on Cricket. It has limits.
Phase 2 will be launched shortly within I think 30 days or so and that will open up browsing to any site.

As it sits now you just use Google to get anywhere.

no last i heard we are in phase 2. phase 1 was only for employees of cricket and was data card sending to test the network. phase two is what we have right now and phase three will be full unrestricted browsing which should come out soon.

I'm a big fan of homebrew. :p

But still, that leaves free WAP proxy. Wish I had my computer setup handy with the KPST or I'd be on it now... :(

has anyone confirmed that there will be unrestricted browsing? (really i' curious) i haven't heard anything yet other than that there will be a web based store and more content accessable through the browser. you'll notice that cricket just calls it mobile web and never refers to it as internet. we can be hopeful though...

yes i am unable to open any pages from google. the only real use i have found for google is images since you can save them to the phone and get free backgrounRAB... now if only google had a ringtone search =p

1.) I, for one, cannot connect to just any URL I choose using the Open Page option from the menu. I have to do so using Google. Unless you are suggesting there is yet another way to enter a URL of my choosing.

2.) I cannot save images I find on Google, but oddly enough, I can save the Google logo. I keep getting an "Application Error Memory Access", and then a stupid red exclamation saying "Item saved".

*shrugs*

hmm... just tried again and it still let me save images. what i do is go to image search and from the results page i select Menu->Save Items press next until you get to the picture you wish to save. it lets me save it just like pictures i get in MMS messages. here is my phone info. maybe it is just a different version of the software.

Motorola Razr
S/W Version: GATW_09.01.00R
Browser Info: Openwave 6.2.3

Wirelessly posted (Kyocera KX5: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; Google Wireless Transcoder;))

I get the app problem. And where does the file save?

Wirelessly posted (Kyocera KX5: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; Google Wireless Transcoder;))

Also do all of the image load and show t every time or some red x

Sometimes I get red X's too.

The pictures save to the Saved Images directory on my phone. I have my KX5/Slider Remix set to save all images to my memory card.

I have the cricket mobile web and keep getting those 403 forbidden messages every time i try to access a website that is actually important (school, myspace, bank ect...) so how do surf myspace with my phone, any tips will be greatly appreaciated.
