The Craig vs. Greg Debate?

So what are your feelings on the whole Craig vs. Greg debate? I have been tracking the international controversy, and am curious to see if there are any of you avid yahoo-ers that would like to voice your opinion. If you are not familiar with the details of this roaring conflict, here they are: Is the name Craig simply a knock-off of the name Greg? And, in turn, does the fact that Greg is nothing more than a mere nickname of the title Gregory make "Craig" foolish gibberish? Please answer honestly and as soon as possible.
 
Why pick only on Craig? Think of all the other shorten names that just don't make sense. From Elizabeth we get Betsy, Edward we get Ned, Richard we get Rick and Dick?
