I went to see this on Friday , I really wanted to like it but it is very disjointed an badly edited near the end ,
I could see Brian De Palma's vision here in this mish mash ,with good sets an some good lines in this but the horribly editing let it down badly

good actors in it , Josh Hartnett,Hilary Swank,a special mention for Mia Kirshner... ;)

bad acting as usual Scarlett Johansson ,shes just a good looking busty bimbo :(

btw I expect the James Ellroy's novel to be better of course ,:)

I'm going to see this on Thursday.....from what I've seen of the trailer it looks good but I suppose I'll have to wait and see. Rumour has it that Mia Kirshner steals the show as Elizabeth Short which doesn't surprise me. She's a brilliant actress.

xx

really looking forward to this - have read a few of Ellroy's novels, but not this one.

disagree about Scarlett Johansson being a crap actress tho'.

Yeah agree with your comment, she's a greeeat actress :)

You a Muse fan by any chance? I'm going to see them in November... can't wait :D :)

Yeah I am....seeing them at the MEN in Nov...I'm so excited!!!

Went to see Black Dahlia last night and I'm so disappointed...it was too disjointed. Mia Kirshner did steal the show for me...she was amazing :D

And Hilary Swank was impressive too.

xx

Actually that actress Scarlett Johansson is a clone from original person, which has nothing with acting career. That clone was created illegally using stolen biological material. Original person is very nice (not damn sexy), most important - CRISTIAN young lady!
---------------------------------------------------------
I'll tell you guys more, that clones (it's not only one) made in GERMANY - world leader by manufacturing human's clones. You can not even imaging the scale of the cloning activity. But warning! German state 100% controlling all their clones spreading around the world, they are very accurate with that, they are still NAZI type disciplined and mind controlled clones, so be careful get close with clones you will be controlled as well. Think wise...

Let's be blunt,it's terrible. If it wasn't Brian De Palma it would have been slammed more than it was. And get something straight.Josh Hartnett serves the same purpose he does in any movie. A panty wetter and that's it.

that movie came and went very fast. Hardly stayed in the theatres for very long. I think it's at the $1.00 theatre now. I wanted to see it, not strongly so, but still.. Guess I'll have to wait for the DVD.

I saw this a while back in the States. It really did not hang together well at all. If you want to learn about the Black Dahlia read a website, the plot add ons here were myriad and pointlessly confusing.

I thought Hilary Swank came out of it relatively unscathed; Josh Hartnett looked too pretty and passive, ok in the role but no Humphrey Bogart he, and Scarlett Johansson was just a big blank on screen and not the femme fatale that only has to smoulder to be extraordinary that she thinks she is. Fiona Shaw did the opposite and overacted ludicrously like it was Monty Python's Black Dahlia - in our movie theater the audience laughed at her scenes.

K.D. Lang as the singer in a lesbian bar was great, though.

This was a HUGE disapointment. I really wanted to like it, and it did start off really well. And then they introduced that ghastly family and it all went so horribly wrong.

Hilary Swank was wasted in that role - she looked dazed and confused and was a very poor femme fetale. The mother did the WORST Bette Davis impression (ala Baby Jane) as the unhinged mother and I just cringed.

On the plus side - Scarlett Johanssons lips were fabulous (they really held the film together, imo) and it was unitentionaly hilarious. The cinema I was in were in stiches!!
