the BIG movie memories thread

What was the first film you went to see? was it in a cinema? how much was it for a bucket of pop corn? what was the first film you really enjoyed?

has there been any films that have had a big impact on your life?

Fantasia, although I don't remember going. Apparently my sister and me cried our eyes out because we were hating it, and mum had to take us out of the cinema (West End one!).

The first one I actually remember was another Disney film - The Boatniks (with Phil Silvers I think) - never seen it since though.

First film I ever went to see was Hook as a School Trip thing.
Yes it was at the local cinema.
Cost 50p for a bag of Popcorn.
The first film I enjoyed was Lion King a few years later.

Big impacts on my life would probably be the Matrix Films. They really blew me away.

I hope however that changes next year when 'Meg' is released which should blow away my all time favourite film Jaws, by some margin, if it remains true to the book.

The first film I ever saw at the Cinema was Santa Claus The Movie. I think I was about three, probably a bit too young to go to the cinema. My mum had to keep telling me to be quiet!

The next film I saw was Ghostbuster 2 a few later.

Bambi was the first film I remember watching at the cinema - made me cry when his mum dies (still does actually!) :o  I don't remember how much things cost, but I do remember there being a smoking half and a non-smoking one, and seeing clouRAB of smoke in the darkness!

The next film I can remember going to see was Grease - the dodgy bits just went right over my innocent 6 year old head! :D

I can remember as a kid going to the pictures with my mum and my auntie, and they had an interval of 15 minutes in the middle of the film and people came round with ice-cream and lollies on a tray. It was the mid to late 70's, some Disney thing I think.

I'm glad they stopped doing that, tbh. Can you imagine having a 15-minute gap in the middle of your film these days??

I can remember the place being huge as well, seating on three levels. Although maybe I remember it being big because I was little.

Like Pelicano, Bambi was the first film I went to see at the cinema. Can't remember going though. The first film I remember seeing at the cinema was The Empire Strikes Back and at the age of 7 it had a massive impact on my life. The next 3 years were absolute torture waiting for Return of The Jedi whilst the playground was full of kiRAB in dodgy parkers having lightsabre battles with sticks.

Have no idea how much food/drink cost back then - I was only 7 and had no idea about the value of money. I do remember my mam complaining about the cost of sweets though.

Also, like Areece, I remember the 15 minute interval in the middle of films. As a kid, I really liked this as I always had one eye on the lady at the bottom of the isle who would sell the ice-cream! As soon as the lights came on, me and what seemed like hundreRAB of other kiRAB would run like mad to get to the front of the ice-cream queue.

Thank goodness we don't have to put up with that these days!
