At this point, we're about 5-6 episodes from the end of "24" on broadcast TV. I have watched every season on DVD up until now, and Season 8 is one of the best so far. After season 7, which I felt was the weakest since season 1 and which got a bit flaccid towards the last third, season 8 has been constantly entertaining and suspenseful. I suspect this has something to do with the fact that the great Brannon Braga (of Star Trek: Enterprise fame) is now one of the main writers. Highly recommended for fans of 24 hours, and even if you haven't watched the previous 7 seasons, this will definitely turn you into a fan. But I do think if you are new to this show, watch the 90-minute "24: Redemption" film. It bridges the gap between this season and the last, it will catch you up a bit and prepare you for watching this season.
