I am wondering what news stories from this year stick out in people's minds the most.

They can be horrific, sad or even happy or funny. Just anything that you remember please.

But PLEASE, none of the obvious ones such as MJ dying, the credit crunch or swine flu.

Being a colonial I particularly liked and read as much as was available to me the ongoiing saga of your MP's overuse/misuse of expense funds...and I'm still waiting for the news of at least one of them going to jail like any citizen would for bilking their employer.
