The best habitat for a rat?

I just got a rat from a friend and I have nothing for her except for food and a small bird cage. I can only keep her for a few days before I have to get her a new home. What could the best habitat be using household items? PLEASE HELP!! Things like bedding and a way to give her water would be great!
