The Best Digimon Season?

Here is my list.

Season 1- Adventure: HanRAB down the best of the series. This is the one that started it all. It was based on four separate plotlines that were tied together at the end, each one having rising action and a climax, building the show in intensity. Character building was present and all the digimon were lovable and cool. Great villains were present, some intimidating and scary while others offbeat and strange. Not only that but Tai and Agumon were just awesome. The only real problem of this series was that although the multiple storylines were fantastic and diverse, they were very weakly linked.

Season 3- Tamers: This comes very close to being as good as Adventure. It features a darker and more complex storyline that builRAB in up for most likely the best finale of any of the series. Tamers explores more option in plot and concept by having a large group of digidestined but only focusing heavily on three. This season most likely has the best villain of a non digimon and non human entity, forcing the two to team together to survive. The digimon also have much more depth than any other series, including such characters as Impmon as an Anti-hero/ redeeming character. This season goes into such depths that it explains the origin story behind the digimon, how they can appear in the real world and how the digital world was created. At first I was not sure with the changes but as the show progresses you learn to accept them. It

I love the first three seasons but season 3 is my favorite. It was just awesome. I really didn't like season 4 with the digidestined being their own Digimon. I wound up growing bored with it. Season 5 I really didn't like, especially with changing Agumon's digivolutions and mixing other digivolutions.

Adventures - as previously stated, the one that started one, and the first Digimon series. It loveable relatedable main characters, and it was new to me. The best music scores in the series, I love the evolution / battle music, as well as ending 1 I Wish. And the greatest villian in Digimon history Vamdemon.

Tamers - the darker storylines, and main characters that match the depth and relateable of the Adventures cast. The only flaw is was more toyatic and commercials than the previous series.

Savers - this one gets a bum rap, because it dared to be different. It started off slow, but once it picked up, it was great. Some good main characters, maybe not on par with the earlier seasons, though Touma is one of my favorite main characters ever, I loved all of the episodes that focused on him. Its style was more of a series for older kiRAB. And it had the most hateable villain ever Kurata. He is another awesome villain that I love to hate.

Adventures 02 - a contious of the first series, which I loved seeing some of my old favorites a little older is a plus. Plus Blackwargreymon is one of the most awesome characters ever.

Frontier - I didn't like that they got rid of the digimon partners, that is one of the main points of the series the bond between a digimon and his partner. It had some possitve points, some of the antagonist were cool characters.

One thing I didn't like about 02 was it's ending. It was so incredibly cliche. You have one of the most powerful digimon, Malomyotismon the revived antogonist from the first series, and he is killed by children's dreams.

Back to Savers, just me or does some of the elements is similar to Bleach. The first 11 episodes were like the Substitue Shinigmai arc, it starts out being about protecting the town from these weird monsters that come from another world. Kurata minipulate all of the conflict just like Aizen did. Not to mention the Bio-hibryRAB battles were like what you see on a series in Bleach in being one on one battles. Masaru and Touma's relationship were like Ichigo and Uryu.

Touma the individual reminded me of Uryu in not only being the nerdy rival to the lead character, but he had the same daddy issues that Uryu has, substitute mother for grandfather and their families issues are the same minus the little sister, and his opponents were female or effeminate, just like Uryu seems to get those types of opponents.

Wow, this is an old thread.

My favorite is Digimon Tamers. All of the partner Digimon and characters were interesting and there were a lot of them. I liked the concept of a lot of the characters becoming tamers over time and the blue card. And the villain Digimon in this season were particularly great. Season 1 is my next choice for similar reasons and it is of course, the one that I really grew up with.

What I liked about Myotismon in season 2 was how he manipulated the system and how everything that happened in the season was because of him. Owakawa was cool and who was he really? A man possessed by Myotismon! I agree though I don

I agree completely with Todd.D.Anderson's rankings and most of his opinions, but I'll have to disagree with saying that most of Frontier's villains were "stupid and lame." Those obnioxious Royal Knights were the only lame villains. The likes of Grurablemon, Arbormon, Ranamon, and Mercurymon were pretty much supposed to be ridiculous yet they still did a better job at posing a threat and being interesting/entertaining villains than, say, Arukenimon and Mummymon.

You say it's "cliche", but really; how many other anime out there have killed the villain with children's dreams and NOT in some big epic fight? "Cliche" isn't nessecarily the word I'd use. Cheesy, yes, but not cliche.

Other than Beelzemon, I actually thought Tamers had the weakest cast of evil digimon. The human antagonist (Yamaki) and the D-Reaper, IMO, completely outshined Zhuqiaomon and his Devas.

I love and still prefer the original over all the other ones. I felt Tamers lacked the charm and polish of the first series did. The characters didn't feel as distinct or fleshed out (Hirokazu and Kenta were nothing but comic relief, Ryou was a fanservice plot-device, and Shuichon felt like a completely pointless addition) Even after they got Digimon they still didn't do much aside from one or two notable moments (like Marine Angemon's bubbles protecting them from the D-Reaper). The kiRAB in Adventures shared the spotlight and felt more fleshed out to me.

I'd even go so far as saying the first half of Frontier was better than Tamers (it was more structured, and the dark warriors made for better villains than the Devas did). However, the second half the Frontier plummets HARD as soon as they're defeated and it becomes the Takuya and Kouji show. Then that's where I'll say I liked Tamers more than that. Though I will admit I liked the beginning of Tamers and felt it was interesting, especially the animation and music and real-world setting. Once they hit the Digital World, though, I found it boring and I just plain disliked the D-Reaper plotline and all the weird stuff near the end (like Alice popping out of nowhere for plot-device reasons)

Adventures felt solid all the way through, though, and I loved the 'adventure' aspect with the kiRAB traversing the Digital World on their own, which is why I rank it as my favorite. 02 wasn't as polished, and the replacement kiRAB didn't entertain me as much, but I guess having the older kiRAB as mentors appealed to me; even if the ending is quite questionable. I just plain hated Savers and it didn't appeal to me at all.

So, overall, I'd say Adventures > 02 > first half of Frontier > Tamers > Second half of Frontier > Savers.

Marinite, I think you're making too big of an assupmtion there that just because kazu , kenta, and Shuichon got digimon, they were supposed to be main charachters, when in reality, they were never treated as such. The show always focused on the main 3, except when Ryo was added to end the game storyline.

And WOW, giga-thread Necrmancy, the biggest I've seen. can a mod close this please?

For me it's all about the first season. Second season imo paled in comparison, I didn't watch the third, and the last series of Digimon I watched, the kiRAB were turning into Digimon, and I didn't like that at all.

I really like the D-reaper because it was weird and bizarre and they slowly learned more and more about it. It was a program designed to monitor the growth of digimon when they were experiments. It evolved like the digimon in the digital world but never gained emotions and remains a destructive force that exists for the sole purpose of getting rid of anything that had exceeded their evolutionary parameters.

It was always mutating and as a result it was changing and constantly evolving.

The best part was it was a unique non digimon non human entity that posed a threat to both of their existence.

I'd rank the seasons as follows:

1. Adventure - HanRAB down the best. I loved Adventure.
2. Tamers - Yeah, I actually liked Tamers. I liked the darker, more mature concepts, and Konaka's direction was very well done.
3. Frontier - This one is somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me. I'm a bit erabarrassed to admit I enjoyed it (knowing how poorly received it was, and all), but few will argue the Royal Knights arc had "epic fail" written all over it.
4. 02 - I enjoyed the Kaiser arc, but lost interest afterward, should have quit with Oikawa's introduction, the ending was quite simply awful in just about every aspect.

I haven't really watched Savers (haven't had the time), but I have read online comparisons, and I have to say it's received horrible dub treatment.

I'm one of those rare people who actually enjoyed Frontier (although I'll admit that the Royal Knights arc was fail), probably because it's the series that pulled me back into Digimon. In my opinion, the scale goes: Tamers > Adventure > Frontier > 02 > Savers.

I really didn't like Savers. I only watched it because I really didn't have much else to watch at the time. The characters seemed to lack something and the series just didn't keep me interested like the others did.

And the main reason that 02 is second to last is because of it's ending........I mean come on.....Myotismon was a great villain in Adventure and it took Agumon and Gabumon digivolving to Mega to beat him, but as Malomyotismon he's defeated simply by dreams and sparkly lights......are you serious?! The epilogue/future/whatever kinda annoyed me too, but not as much as the Malomyotismon thing.
