The best and the worst.

It's embarrassing not only to see the **** you people are watching nowadays, but to watch you label that **** as the best anime.

The best anime of all time is probably Rurouni Kenshin Trust & Betrayal. It contains no shitty J-Pop, no 11 year old anime girls giving fanservice to the innumerable pedophiles who watch Japanese cartoons, and no retarded jokes. This alone puts it above 99% of the crap produced nowadays. If I were to label a runner up, it would probably be Berserk.
 
you mean because everyone has watched the same anime as you? or because we all the exact same tastes?

we're all entertained by different things, I mean I havent seen Beserk but I didn't enjoy Rurouni Kenshin all that much. I prefer my anime either well written and animated or simply retarded. It may be embarassing to you but that's your problem to deal with I guess.
 
I chose comedy mostly for the lack of an other button because my favorite would be psychological. My least is sports but, there are still some good series about sports.

Well best is actually harder for me than worst.
I suppose the best for me was and still is Serial Experiments Lain. A few others come to mind but, I could watch that series over and over again.
The worst hmmm, KissxSis mostly because I couldn't get through more than five minutes of the anime. There's funny perverted like To Love Ru and then there's just plain sad.
 
Well you see my perceptive friend, we're not talking about their favorite anime of all time. We're talking about what they think is the best anime of all time. Saying that Gremlins is the best movie of all time due to its moving plot and spectacular musical score is retarded. There is no hiding behind "It's just my opinion."

If you honestly find something like Naruto to be the best anime of all time, it's not that you just have different taste from me; it's that you have terrible taste and no knowledge of what good anime is.
 
Best: Azumanga Daioh
It's amazing but this anime still makes me laugh my ass off every time I watch it, and I've seen it quite a few times.

Worst: Sakura Diaries
It's a harem anime where the main protagonist is a douchebag. It could have worked if they went for a comedy angle, but they decided to keep it as a drama. It's so hard to empathyse with most characters that their melodramatic struggles don't evoke any emotion.
 
To say Naruto is the best anime is not to say you have terrible taste (it is highly questionable tase but not necesarily terrible ) and possibly that you don't have any knowledge of anime its just youve only ever watched a limited amount of anime and not many of them great quality. I fall into both of those categories so my opinion on the best anime (series ive watched most of the episodes of or the entire series) is going to be limited to a select few and the quality of such anime may pale in comparison to the choices made by others.

So you see I guess its about perspective; In this case you should take in to account that not everybody has seen what others would deem 'quality' anime. I'm an anime fan but I have my own way and I take my time in discovering a new series to watch. So I'm not completely disagreeing with you but I'm just offering a new perspective.

BTW...I would deem Gremlins as one of the best movies of all time (and the second one) because its a stupidly retarded movie, I enjoy the plot, direction and the raw slapstick comedy, plus the supposed horror them adds to its quality for me
 
Although i'm not sure what the formal guidelines are for deciding the best Anime, I would have to say Initial D would be up there. What other Anime has influenced as many people world-wide as Tak drifting that 86?





I don't have to mention Trust and Betrayal, 'cos you did. I will add that it's dead-set brilliant and, for me, deeply moving. Berserk on the other hand was banished from all "best, greatest, awesomest, fully-sik-est" lists when that ending was settled upon as the best way to wrap up the series. Still rates as one of the worst endings ever that I have seen.

This is a fair argument against Berserk, but I don't really find it fair to consider the ending too much. Really, it had to end at an awkward point, and that point was the dark eclipse. It probably could have been done better, but unfortunately, to stay true to the manga, that was really the series had room for. It was decided as 26 episodes from the beginning, but it really deserved more than that. Really, it boils down to robbery :\.



Really, part of my original complaint was that people are all watching retarded **** nowadays. There is quality anime out there, but it gets barely any recognition with all of the Narutards and anti-Narutards jerking off to their favorite yaoi couples.

If anybody wants to see one of the few decent anime series in existence, they can refer to this list:

*Rurouni Kenshin Trust and Betrayal (the OAV)
*Cowboy Bebop
*Berserk
*Slam Dunk

There are other quality anime in existence of course. This is barely the tip of the iceberg. There is just no excuse for naming One Piece, Bleach, or Naruto as the best series of all time, which practically half of the people in this thread have done.
 
Best all time?

I'd still probably mention a series like Cowboy Bebop or Monster as the greatest. Another one I've had the chance to watch but seems under-appreciated is Gankutsuou: The Counte of Monte Cristo. Then there's other series more people ought to check out like Planetes and Kino's journey.

Worst all time?

I'm not sure about the worst all time, but I still watch a lot of terrible anime too, so I'll be honest. There are some shows out there like K-ON and Lucky Star which really aren't that good.

here is my official list, of animes that I find to be the BEST of all time even if they are not nessasarily my favorite;
BEST: fullmetal alchemist (the first one) and the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya

WORST: fullmetal alchemist brotherhood.

I really wouldn't be able to choose my favorite anime but if anything probably to aru majutsu no index is my favorite but unofrtunately like no one on here has seen it probably
 
Meh if you like Slam dunk (which I agree with you is a great show) chances are you going to like One Piece. While I wont say that that One Piece is the best of all time it's still vastly different from Bleach and Naruto in every way. So don't put them in the same category. But I'd still say One Piece is a very decent anime.

Of the 100+ anime I've seen, Monster is the reigning champ. Its storyline and characters, both main and supporting, are on a whole different level than the vast majority of anime. Another anime I have to mention is Legend of The Galactic Heroes. Anyone who appreciates Monster should give LOGH a try. They may be of totally different genres but their plot development, character set, and writing are on par quality-wise.

Best romantic comedy: Maison Ikkoku.

Worst anime: that would be a long list.
