The Battle for Terra trailer online

Looks like Lionsgate is getting the jump on Dreamworks Planet 51. The two films have pretty much the same plot, right down to depicting humans as scary invaders (is this the trend in children's films in the Obama administration?). The main difference is that the Dreamworks film, naturally, is a comedy.

The movie's got some potential, but I predict it will also be obnoxiously preachy. Too much potential for an anti-American, anti-military, pro-Green slant that Hollywood producers find as hard to resist as their next hit of cocaine.

Oh I've heard about this film on the spill community. From what I can remember, it's an animated film that was made in a independent film company from Canada. From what I've heard, it's a pretty impressive piece of work.

This does not look too bad, could be interesting. I have been hearing of this for a while now, looks as if it may be ready for release?

I read about this film on Wikipedia a while back. I say this tentatively now, but it looks like it could be VERY interesting. (Better than Monsters vs Aliens, at any rate).

"Wikipedia"?

Are we talking about the same website here, because I can't seem to find ANY article about it.

Anyway, after reading the very brief plot blurb on comingsoon.net, it seems possible that this could be the other extreme. We all know how Dreamworks' movies have been in recent years (with the whole "comedy" factor). This however, seems to be the polar opposite of that.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am opposed to movies portraying humans/earthlings as being "evil"; IMO it sends to wrong message to certain groups of people. This is why I don't watch All Dogs Go to Heaven; "all dogs are naturally good and kind"? What does that make humans: "naturally evil/greedy/what have you"?

Suffice it to say, I don't like it when a movie (in any context) is "preachy"; IMO, it makes people feel bad. Has the script for BfT been finalized yet? Maybe this is just a rough draft?

The movie will be good if humanity is REALLY in danger of extinction and this is honestly a last resort operation. If it becomes apparent from reviews that the military are stereotypical, absolutist villains, I'll know to not bother and that a massive opportunity to tell an awesome story in a "kids movie" got missed.

I am, however, glad that it's at least something a bit different from the wacky animal hijinks that I've come to expect from CG movies not made by Pixar. By all means, continue moving in this direction please.

I noticed, it's just a trend I've noticed in general. Hence why I said "CG movies not made by Pixar" instead of just "movies made by Dreamworks." I'm just glad to see something a bit different for a change.

Just another CG animated movie that no one is going to go see . . . like Delgo or Happily N'Ever After.

Lionsgate also released Happily, one of the worst animated movies ever made.

Looks highly promising and it's a welcome break from the usual comedic fare. However, if it does into "humans are universally scum" territory I'm not even going to consider viewing it.

This looks nowhere near as poor as Happily.
