Do you think that's fair, or just more money for the taxman?

Considering the amount it would increase, it would just be punishing people who genuinely enjoy alcoholic drinks.

What are your opinions?

Yes it is fair. They are not talking about a tax increase what they are saying is that a unit of alcohol cannot be sold for less than 50p.

As it is possible in the UK to buy 21 units of alcohol for less than £3.50 - Good put the price up and let the kids find something else to do which doesn't envolve them fighting (taking a life) or shagging (making a life).

Has anybody tasted the cheap basic booze - it is like drinking the piss of a camel mixed with petrol.

For most people who drink responsible and not just to get smashed as quickly as possible will notice very little difference.

to avoid alckohol. Best thing to do is to go for a short trip in Europe, weekend such as Spain, buy alckohol and the cost of the holiday when you buy other staff ie cigaretts and cloths will be covering ticket expenses.

Most people in the UK are moderate drinkers.
Why punish them for a few?
At 50p per unit a bottle of Whisky would be over £15 minimum.(30 to 40 units)
Is anyone else fed up with this government denying us the right to make our own decisions?
It certainly looks like revenue raising to me.
