The alarm clock on my motorola droid keeps "force closing"?

The alarm clock on my motorola droid keeps "force closing" and the alarm won't sound at the time i set. How do I fix it? The guys at verizon said i just had to "check" it when i go into my task manager after i set the alarm, but it won't even let me set the alarm so i can do that.
