Where I live in New England in a rather upscale town, gas prices are now climbing to $5.00 a gallon. My mother is looking at a new SUV to replace her older one. She really liked the Mazda CX-7, but decided it was not what she was looking for, and was pretty settled on the Acura RDX. I personally love BMW's, and liked the X3, but it was slightly more expensive, and seemed to be getting crushed in reviews by the RDX.
I understand both use premium, and the RDX seems to lack in MPG, and since we live in an area where gas prices soar, could these vehicles be a poor choice? Premium gas, pretty good MPG (at least the X3 seems to have great gas mileage). My mom doesn't want to really have to use Premium, but both SUV's recommend it, and it seems like the RDX has more of a need since it's turbocharged. I've read mixed reviews regarding using premium or not.
My mom is really set on the RDX, but is it truly better than the foreign BMW?
