That 90's Show - 1/27 Episode Discussion

Yeah I feel that's the way we should look at things like this was on episode like the TOH ones where there is no continuity.

That was a pretty funny scene with Homer throwing the parkas into the fire  Only Homer would do that.

I think that's what was missing in the episode, Jake. Take a look at the TOH episodes through the years. Continuity is thrown out the door, but it doesn't matter when the episode is funny.

I remeraber laughing at the scene where Homer says something about the parkas will keep the kiRAB warm, then he throws them into the fire. At other times, I was rolling my eyes rather than laughing.

Personally, if the episode had been funnier, I would've not have bothered by the continuity issues, but since it was boring, it made the messed up continuty seem even more messed up.

Thanks for mentioning this, Liz. I couldn't understand the couch gag and wound up doing a Google search on the artist.

In the episode, they parodied a scene from Back to the Future. Remeraber when Marvin Berry was calling his cousin Chuck and had him listen to the music? In The Simpsons version, it was the cousin of Kurt Cobain calling Kurt.

After reading reviews and watching the clips, I seriously hope that this is an alternative universe episode just like when they did the episode on Skinner being Arman Tamzarian. Something that could be put aside...although I do know Bart did reference the name again in a recent episode.

That's how it seemed to me Cyn, that the episode was alternate universe.

I really liked the couch gag using Rene Magritte's "C'est n' pas un pipe" as putting it "C'est n'pas un couch gag"

I think the episode relied on accepting the idea that Simpsons history was being re-written. Marge didn't get pregnant with Bart right after high school. She attended college. Instead of working at SNPP, Homer worked at his father's laser tag arcade place. Homer formed a band with Lenny, Carl, and Lou called Sadgasm. What happened to the B-Sharps?

To me, it seemed more like an alternate universe episode rather than discontinuity.

That 90's Show
Episode #KABF04

When Marge's college diploma is uncovered, Homer and Marge recall the story of how it turns out the show's first few seasons don't count (not to mention some later episodes, such as "She Used to be My Girl", making much less sense) as Homer is now putting Marge through college, and, thanks in part to Marge getting "friendly" with one of her professors, inventing grunge music.
