Tf2 connecting to game problem?

alright then every time i wanna play tf2 it always laggs out

what i do it s

click a server to play on

let it load

but then is says sending ( or loading ) cleint or somthing like that and then my WHOLE comupter freezes and then tf2 shuts is self down

any help would be useful but im not great with computures

and just a little extra how do u check ur ping on ur computre ????
