text messages on nextel

i know it sounds funny cause i have the dc. some of my friends don't have nextel so they send me text messages. problem is i don't get them or if i do i get them like 3 or 4 hours later. i was just wondering if anyone else had or was having this problem. now my friends with nextel send me a text message it works just fine. i pay 7.50 for unlimited text messaging. its starting to make me mad. any advice please advise.

Yeah, Nextel does that to my text msg's also. I have Verizon, and my boyfriend has Nextel. I'll send him one in the morning, and either A.) He doesn't get it or B.) He gets it HOURS later- sometimes when I'm right there asking him if he got my message (I like to send him naughty stuff to make him smile :))
 
I suggest this; have whomever that's 2 way messaging you send the message to your ten digit nextel [email protected]. Likewise, if you're sending a message to someone at Verizon, the quickest way is to send it with the 10 digit [email protected]. This issue usually occurs because people are trying to just send it to the number, without entering in the complete address. Most phones allow you to save the address so you don't have to enter in all that text each time you want to send someone a message, but you have to realize these are really browser/short email messages. Using a complete address helps it get through the necessary gateways much quicker.
 
Yea it does that to my phone too...when i send its instant but when people send to me i find that it doesnt reach me for 30 mins at the very least...but what if people dont have access to a computer? The whole thing about text messaging is phone to phone texting and i mostly use it when im in school. Theres no way to speed things along a bit? It used to be instant but has slowed down about a month and a half ago
 
It's a known problem. The vast majority of newer phone models have the ability to enter in letters and symbols to put in the correct address (along with saving the information so you don't have to input it all the time). Again, you can either enter in the complete information (on your actual cell phone, no need for a computer), or accept the lag time until it gets fixed.
 
nevermind...typing in the number didnt speed it up any either. Maybe im confused? Ive had my phone for about a year and it just started about a month and a half ago so there has to be a way to fix it ...unless nextel changed something?...
 
Exactly, jkellz26. For example, if your cell number is 206-123-1234, then the person who's a non-Nextel subscriber would type in [email protected] (on their cell phone, then save the address in their text messaging address book if their carrier allows them to have one, which they should) when sending you a message. It should go through faster. Just typing in your 10 digit number isn't going to get it for the time being. It's a known issue that Nextel has been working on since about October of 2004.

thank you:thumbsup:[/Q hi! each service provider have a diff text messaging format. at&t, cingular, t-mobile and the rest of the world who's using gsm network have the same text masseging format. verizon and sprint are (cdma) nextel ( don't know format) if you from at&t (gsm) and send a text to sprint (cdma) it will take a while to read what kind of massage is incoming because of the diff format of this both provider. but send text to gsm to gsm or cdma to cdma your not gonna have a problem and it only take 3 second to recieve the massage.
